How to Raise the Astra H on to Axel Stands

When it comes to maintenance of your car, you’ll sometimes need to be able to access underneath, for example, oil changes, Wheel Changes, and so on. Im hoping this simple guide will help you where needed. Please be safe when working underneath the car.

Items you’ll need

  1. Ensure your car is parked on a secure, stable surface with the handbrake on
  2. Make sure no passengers are in the vehicle
  3. Find the jacking point mark on the sill of the car, it is indicated as per Figure 1.
  4. Jacking point locations on Astra H

(Figure 1)Use these locations to jack up the Astra H

  5. Start raising your trolley jack to align with this mark, I often place a block of wood between the jack and the car to prevent any marks
  6. Raise the car so that the axel stand can be placed underneath
  7. You should see the chassis frame running from front to back of the car, I normally place axel stands under these
  8. Once the axel stand is in the correct location, slowly lower your trolley jack so that the car rests on the axel stand

I am a car enthusiast and have owned a few Astras in my time, I am not a trained mechanic. I enjoy making my information available to you via this website and try to point out some tips along the way if I can. I can't promise that anything I show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty by doing it. Be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not play around with very serious machinery. Please consult a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.
